A place is as nice as the people you meet. These are the memories you take with you when on holidays.  We'd been in Darwin for just over 3 weeks.  We were exhausted on arrival having been on the constant move for the last 5 months and looked so much forward to some stable ground, even if only for 3 weeks.  It was great weather perhaps a little cool in the beginning but it ceertainly picked up very quickly in about 4 days.  My coming down with some sort
of flu wasn't planned but I think it had something to do with the speed and constancy of our travels.

Food was fantastic

But back to what I had intended to say.  Darwin is at the top end of the nation.  We saw convoys of caravans pulling up and down through the Stuart Hwy literally non-stop.  People from every corner of the nation make a Darwin a definite holiday destination, perhaps also because the climate is just so good getting away from the Southern winter. It is perfect.

Our top enders were a great bunch.  We'd met people from WA, SA, QLD, TAS, a few that we'd met on our travels so far.  We'd even met a couple who live in Aspendale in our neighbourhood! Hello! you just never know who you're likely to run into!  We enjoyed 'Happy Hour' almost every night.  Daniel and I took up the games of cards, darts, amongst other games we played including Scrabble,  eading and of course continuing our education in the guitar.  Daniel ejoyed darts so much that he bought a set for himself and onefor me....now its the practice we need and a permanent board site.....we'll have to wait until we get home for that erection!

One outing we went out for dinner by Mindell beach to watch the sunset.  Another time we took a trip down to Berry Springs and enjoyed the 'safe' not crocodile infested thermal waters of this wonderful area.  A fair sized lagoon with waterfalls spilling over had to stop ourselves from thinking what our friends were all doing 'working' at home...The Mindell markets a must for the
top end tourist, fabuolous shopping for just 'stuff', fabuolous food to please all palettes.  Laughter, jokes, a few stories shared top end fun in the sun always, makes wonderful memories for us to keep.  Time to move on so now we're on the road to Kakadu. 

As with food there was also entertainment (fire throwers)
